The Institute of Business Informatics – Software Engineering @ JKU Linz has an open research position within the research project “CLEM – Combining Live and Exploratory Modeling” funded by FWF Austria and ANR France. This international project will be executed in close collaboration with our project partner University of Rennes, France, with opportunities for exchange and occasional travel between the institutes.

The goal of this research project is to explore and provide dedicated support for live and exploratory modeling by applying language engineering concepts and AI-based techniques to experiment with executing models to receive immediate feedback on certain changes or expected behavior.

The successful candidate will conduct research on novel model-driven engineering concepts, methods, and techniques for developing sophisticated modeling and simulation environments. The candidate will also have the opportunity to pursue a PhD thesis within the scope of the project.

Research Topics of Interest (but not limited to):

  • Live and Exploratory Modeling
  • Model-Driven Optimization
  • AI-supported modeling
  • Software Language Engineering and Language Workbenches

Desired Expertise:

  • We seek candidates with a master’s degree in Computer Science, Business Informatics, or a related field.
  • Experience in model-driven software engineering is required.
  • Strong programming skills and technological knowledge are essential.

Position Details:

  • Start Date: Early 2026
  • Duration: The contract will be initially for 1 year, with the expectation of renewal for a total of 4 years.
  • Salary: approx. EUR 2,785.00/month gross, 14 times/year for 30 hours/week
