Several modelling approaches including CloudMLemerged to specify the deployment of cloud-based applicationsand automate the provisioning of computational resources.While CloudML was introduced in the REMICS project, itsdevelopment continued by ongoing projects,i.e., ARTIST,MODAClouds, and PaaSage. As the evolution of CloudMLin the three projects aims for a different goal, a divergencebetween the current project-specific manifestations of CloudMLcan be identified. Moreover, as the projects consider differentapplication scenarios, CloudML has been adapted to theirneeds. In this paper, we distil these needs and investigate howCloudML is currently manifested in the model-based ecosystemsemployed by the projects. We discuss the main challenges thatneed to be addressed to achieve a convergence of the currentCloudML manifestations.
