R. Weinreich, R. Plösch: The Communication Facilities of the ProcessTalk Application Framework, Workshop Position Paper, OOPSLA '94, Portland, USA, October 23 - 27, 1994.
The application framework ProcessTalk supports the construction of distributed object-oriented process control software. The application framework consists of a number of subframeworks for communication, data management, active-object management and process control (the latter especially for steel production processes). We present an overview of ProcessTalk and its communication library. The communication library was used as the basis for the development of a C++ RMI (Remote Method Invocation) class library. We are currently working on the redesign and extension of the basis communication library among with tools to support configuration and debugging of distributed object-oriented systems.
