Current model repositories often rely on existingversioning systems or standard database technologies. While thisis of course sufficient for hosting different versions of models, thetime dimension is often not explicitly represented and accessible.A more explicit presentation of time would be needed in severaluse cases going beyond the classical system design phase supportof models such as simulation and runtime.In this paper, we discuss the need for introducing temporalmodel repositories and prospective benefits. In particular, weoutline several challenges which immediately arise when movingtowards temporal model repositories: storage, consistency, access,manipulation, and visualization of temporal models
