The United Nations Centre for Trade Facilitation and Electronic Business (UN/CEFACT) provides a conceptual, model-driven approach, named Core Components (CC), for creating business document models. These business document models are essential for defining service interfaces of systems following the Service-oriented Architecture (SOA) paradigm. However, in such a highly dynamic environment with ever-changing market demands, business partners are confronted with the need to constantly adapt their systems. This implies revising conceptual business documents as well as adapting the corresponding service interface definitions. In this position paper, we discuss evolution challenges encountered while using CC in industry, present our current framework, as well as future challenges for model-driven business document evolution in service-oriented systems.
